Two Friendly Reminders: Pizza Lunch Friday & Council Nominations Are Open

Order pizza lunch by Monday for Friday, Sept 25, and nominations for this year's Chester School Council are open through the same day.

Two friendly reminders as we head into the weekend.

1. Pizza Lunch: Friday, September 25th

Please place your child’s pizza order by Monday, September 21st via School Cash Online. Open to all grades, JK–5.

2. Nominations Are Open for Chester School Council

Chester School Council is dedicated to enriching every student’s experience and fostering a strong school-community partnership. None of this would be possible without the hard work and commitment of volunteers. We rely on your help to make a difference.

Chester School Council serves two main purposes:

  1. Fundraising for the school. This includes organizing pizza lunches, running the Fun Fair and silent auction, organizing things like Mabel’s Labels, applying for sponsorships and grants, and much more.
  2. Liaison between parents and the school. This covers a variety of issues such as curriculum, safety, parent involvement, the School Improvement Plan (SIP), and the School Statement of Needs, a document outlining the characteristics and skill sets parents seek in their school’s administration.

If you’d like to put your name forward, please complete the online nomination form by Friday, September 25th.

Available roles include:

  1. Chair: Oversee meetings, liaise with school admin
  2. Treasurer: Prepare the budget, track and monitor spending and revenue
  3. Secretary: Provide meeting minutes from each council meeting
  4. Communications: Manage social media, website, and email
  5. Events: Develop event plans, including scheduling, layout, and resource management
  6. Fundraising: Identify potential donors, sponsors, and corporate partners for events and general fundraising needs
  7. Advocacy: Lead the council’s advocacy efforts on issues affecting students, families, and the wider school community, both with the Ministry of Education and with Metrolinx
  8. Pizza Lunch: Organize orders in advance and coordinate day-of volunteers
  9. Gardening: Work with students, families, staff, and volunteers to plan and maintain garden spaces
  10. General voting member

The first council meeting of the 2026/27 school year will take place Wednesday, September 30th at 6:30pm, in the library and virtually (a link will be sent closer to the date by email).
